With all the chaos going on around us and with our never-ending to-do lists, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Quite truthfully, it’s got me in a funk. There’s SO much to do, but I don’t have the time or energy to do it all.
Even though my goal here has always been to encourage wives and moms when they feel lost in the chaos around them, right now I’m the one who feels completely lost in it. I’ve been up-tight and on edge the past several days, and like you, I have a gazillion things should be doing. My to-do list is growing like crazy, and I’ve started to feel more than a little overwhelmed.
Be Anxious for Nothing
In the midst of all that crazy, Philippians 4:6 keeps running through my mind:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
A while back, I did a devotion on my Bible app called 15 Days in the Word with John Piper. Day 13’s title is this: “Let Jesus argue with your soul about being anxious.” Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34 not to be anxious, and he explains why we shouldn’t.
If you are feeling overwhelmed in the craziness or messiness of life, take deep breath, a step back, and remind yourself that God is in control, and that being anxious or worried isn’t helping one bit.
Because I myself could use some encouragement today, I chose to link to some really amazingly uplifting articles by fellow Christian bloggers.
Encouragement for Moms
As moms, we often find ourselves in a funk (at least I do). I’m sure it’s partly hormone related, but mostly, it’s that all that motherhood entails–though amazingly blessed–is just hard. Raising kids, managing a home, supporting our husbands. It’s all full-time work, and it’s easy to become discouraged. Yet, we feel guilty for being discouraged and frustrated.

“No, you don’t have to enjoy the screaming and crying and fit throwing. Or the sleepless nights. And you don’t have to enjoy the days and weeks and years of feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Or having someone constantly cling to you and demand more and more when you long for just a few minutes by yourself.” ~ Kay, Heart to Heart Homeschooling
