With summer drawing to a close –wait! Is that even possible? Didn’t it just start?– it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all the stuff to do in preparation for next year. Quite truthfully, it’s got me in a funk. There’s SO much to do, but I don’t have the time or energy to do it all.

My goal here has always been to encourage wives and moms when they feel lost in the chaos around them, but today I’m the one who feels completely lost in the chaos.

I’ve been up-tight and on edge the past several days, and like you, I have a gazillion things should be doing.  My to-do list is growing like crazy, and I’ve started to feel more than a little overwhelmed.

Be Anxious for Nothing

In the midst of all that crazy, Philippians 4:6 keeps running through my mind:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

A while back, I did a devotion on my Bible app called 15 Days in the Word with John Piper. Day 13’s title is this:  “Let Jesus argue with your soul about being anxious.” Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34 not to be anxious, and he explains why we shouldn’t.  Those weeks ago when I originally read those words, I knew it was meant for me, and today? I’m having to remind myself again.

If you are feeling overwhelmed in the craziness or messiness of life, take deep breath, a step back, and remind yourself that God is in control, and that being anxious or worried isn’t helping one bit.  Be sure to remind me, too, if you see me around.

Because I myself could use some encouragement today, I chose to link to some really amazingly uplifting articles by fellow Christian bloggers.

Encouragement for Moms

As moms, we often find ourselves in a funk (at least I do). I’m sure it’s partly hormone related, but mostly, it’s that all that motherhood entails–though amazingly blessed–is just hard. Raising kids, managing a home, supporting our husbands. It’s all full-time work, and it’s easy to become discouraged. Yet, we feel guilty for being discouraged and frustrated.

“No, you don’t have to enjoy the screaming and crying and fit throwing. Or the sleepless nights. And you don’t have to enjoy the days and weeks and years of feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Or having someone constantly cling to you and demand more and more when you long for just a few minutes by yourself.” ~ Kay, Heart to Heart Homeschooling

Encouragement for When Life is Hard

Sometimes life is just hard. Circumstances arise that you never wanted to face. You feel like you will never get past the hard and the pain.

Encouragement for When God Seems Distant

For me at times, God doesn’t feel within my reach. I feel dry and drained spiritually, and it feels like no matter what I do the dryness and distance doesn’t change. Does God seem distant? Remember; He’s right there even when you can’t feel Him.

Encouragement for When You Feel Like You Don’t Measure Up

Do you ever feel like you are less than? Inadequate? Inferior? Of course, you aren’t any of those things, but often times in our discouragement we feel like we can’t measure up.

Encouragement for When You Feel Overwhelmed

Sometimes in life, it’s not one big hard thing that causes discouragement, but a hundred little things overwhelming us. The baby’s not sleeping and neither are you, every appliance in your kitchen is on the fritz, and all your kids need a new pair of shoes!

Encouragement for When You Feel Anxious and Afraid

Fear. Worry. Anxiety. Most of us are familiar at least somewhat with all of these feelings. It’s not God’s will for us to live in fear, worry, or anxiety. But how can we overcome it?

Encouragement Sure to Snap You Out of Your Funk

My prayer is that you found encouragement today as you clicked through and read the titles that related to your current situation. I know that I sure feel better knowing others have been there, done that, and they lived to tell their stories!

My desire is that we can continue to encourage one another when life gets all wonky and throws us for a loop! Be encouraged today, friend!
